I did my first shop for 2K9 yesterday to stock up on everything I needed to keep my self on the path to success. Among the items on my plan:

Breakfast

  • 1 16oz glass of water (a glass of water as soon as you wake up will kick start your metabolism after not consuming anything for at least 8 hours)
  • 2 Egg Whites (pre packaged Simply Egg Whites with 1 tbsp of homemade salsa
  • 1 cup Kashi Go Lean Crunch with 2 tbsp of fat free strawberry yogurt
  • 1 cup of coffee with 1 tsp of sugar

Meals throughout the day

  • 1 apple (halved, eaten at 2 different times in the day)
  • 2 ziploc bags of veggies
  • 1/2 can of tuna
  • 1 bowl of homemade turkey soup (still left from the holidays)
  • 15 almonds (almonds provide good source of protein and essential fats)

Dinner

  • 1/2 chicken breast or sole fillet
  • Steamed Veggies
  • No carbs

After my shopping trip I took some time to prep a lot of my food for the week. To me, this is the most important part of a good diet. I find that if things are not ready to grab and go, I’ll opt for some bad snacks (high sugar cereals, going out for lunch, etc).

I bought 1 head of cauliflower, 1 head of broccoli, 1 red peppers, and 1 English cucumber. These get cut up and spread across 10 ziplock bags (2 per day) that I can grab out of the crisper and toss in my bag.

As I’m trying to focus on losing fat and building muscle, I’ll be supplementing my diet with 1-2 protein shakes per day (1 mid morning and 1 directly after my workout). I’ve got 1/2 a tub of Allmax IsoFlex Chocolate left that I’ll be going through. It’s not the greatest tasting stuff. They put chocolate chips in it which just get stuck at the bottom of the shaker cup and never get enjoyed – a waste in my opinion. Once the IsoFlex is out, I’ll be trying out Muscle Milk. I’ve heard good things about the taste and results.

Stay tuned,

Shendy.
